In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the filming of the children’s film “Cookie: My Toy Spoke” is taking place. The press conference dedicated to the project was attended by director Özgür Özberk, actors and film crew. The film is being shot with the support of Retropro/Özgür Akbaş, Anka Medya and Özgür Yapımlar studios. Despite the fact that the film is aimed at a children’s audience, it will also be of interest to adult viewers.
The main role is played by the young actress Nisan Aktaş, and her on-screen parents are played by Ceyda Atash and Bugra Toplusoy. The role of the grandparents was played by Derya Alalbora and Selcuk Borak. The fantastic guide of “Peri” is played by Özge Özberk, and the characters in the scenes with thieves are played by Irfan Kangı (“Hüseyin the Fox”), Alara Bozbey (“Sevda the Cat”) and Yesim Sevinch (“Maya”).
Director Özgür Özberk said that he wanted to create a character that children would immediately love. The inspiration for the Cookie doll was the experience of his friend from New York, who worked on Gremlins. The character was created in the United States and delivered in a box, and the reaction of the children on the set showed that the image was a success: “They immediately recognized Cookie, and it was the most touching moment of filming,” the director shared.
