Gazimagusa Mayor Suleyman Uluçay said that work is underway to renovate 35 parks across the city.
In a statement made through the press office of the Gazimagusa Municipality, Mayor Uluçay provided the following information on the progress of the work:
“There are a total of 35 parks within the boundaries of the municipality of Gazimagusa. This week, playgrounds were installed in 7 parks, shortcomings were identified and recorded. In Kent Park, located near the bus station, the replacement of playgrounds has been completed, landscaping work continues. A new playground has been installed in the park in the Harik district, the rubber coating has been improved, and the maintenance and repair of green spaces continues. A new playground complex has been installed in Baflılar Park, and landscaping work continues. A new playground has also been installed in the park in the Laguna area, and landscaping continues. In Ali Mahir Park, new playgrounds for children are being installed. In the Baikal Park, the base for laying the rubber coating was cleaned, and the rubber coating will be laid in the near future. Similar work on the preparation of the base was carried out in Karakol Park, the rubber coating will be installed by the contractor. Parks in our city are places of recreation for both children and families. Especially in times of economic hardship, it is important that public spaces can be used by all citizens free of charge and in conditions worthy of human beings.”
Uluçay thanked Dilara Dindar of the Design Department, Zübeyir Ercen, who is responsible for the Construction Department, Head of the Parks and Gardens Department, Mustafa Evcimen, and their teams for their contribution to the park renewal process. He also thanked the students and teachers of Dr. Fazıl Kuçük Vocational High School for their cooperation in the production of urban furniture and equipment to be used in the parks.
