The unusual art installation stretches for 2.5 kilometers from the King West area to Canoe Landing Park. The author of the project is the British theater company Station House Opera.
Ilana Altman, co-organizer of the event:
“The magic of this project is that it brings joy to everyone who is here. Businesses and homes are in this domino field. It covers all the streets. Therefore, we had to involve a lot of people in the work. But I think everyone understood the joy this project would bring, and everyone wanted to participate in it.”
250 volunteers helped to arrange the dominoes. Thousands of spectators came to watch the process. The goal of the project is to unite people. Almost half of Canadians rarely interact with their neighbors, which makes people feel isolated.
The art installation was built for several hours, and then it was time to destroy it. The knuckles fell for about half an hour.
Station House Opera presented its project in Canada for the first time. Prior to that, the company held such events in Australia, Africa and Europe.
