Under the leadership of Nazenin Ruso Kandemir, a lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism and Chairman of the Center for Public Sensitivity (TDM) of the Eastern Mediterranean University (DAÜ), in cooperation with the Touring Club, an event was organized on the theme of olive harvesting and olive oil production with the slogan “The olive begins on the branch, culture lives at the table.”
According to a statement from the DAÜ, the event was attended by students, including foreign students, who had the opportunity to learn more about olive culture.
During a visit to the olive grove in the village of Mormenekxe, the students were able to try olive harvesting using both traditional methods and modern machines. Later, at the olive mill in Ergazi, participants were presented with a detailed explanation of the steps involved in turning olives into olive oil.
