If you are interested in the standard of living in the country, then looking at the elderly is the surest way to get to know it.
North Cyprus standard of living. We go to work every day. Every day we try to please our loved ones and relatives. When buying real estate in a particular country, you always want to understand how you will spend your old age. What will be your pension? Or having a good deposit and receiving interest, you always want to understand that your children and grandchildren will always be in prosperity. Unfortunately, not everything depends on us in this life. But still a lot! There are only two days a year when nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other tomorrow, so today is the best day to love, believe, act and above all live!
Standard of living
In our life, the concept of standard of living follows from the following aspects:
- is the well-being of the population
- accumulation of human capital
- and the level of human development (as a basis)
There is a multifaceted concept of living standards. It is also the basic concept of “human development”. It is simply impossible to reach unprecedented heights in the standard of living, income and consumption (the level of well-being) without development. But the degree of social equality and the possibility of participation of people in the political and economic processes of the state leads to the well-being of the population. Bureaucracy and corruption are, first of all, a limiter of the economic process. And how to accumulate capital if you are cut off at the root?!?! This is where the shadow economy appears in developed countries. Have you noticed that suddenly everyone around you has become self-employed – houses, cars and other luxuries have appeared… 🙂 And you see, a blogger or a photographer is a person of free flight… 🙂 It’s great that we can all create tangible things out of nothing. This is only a plus for us! The only thing I would like our children to understand the price of love, freedom and honesty. If an honest generation grows up, then the future of our countries can be changed. And this is the most important thing! 🙂
Two qualities of well-being
To understand the processes of human well-being more easily, it is worth considering two of their qualities:
- sustainable satisfaction of primary needs
- Material Wealth and Retirement Period
Ranking of the countries of the world
The standard of living is always built from different indicators. The statistical company “Numbeo” summed up the results of the outgoing 2021 and divided the countries based on the following criteria:
- freedom of life choice of the population
- citizens’ trust in social and political institutions
- Healthcare and life expectancy
- and other factors
Let’s take a look at the top 10 countries with the highest quality of life:
- Switzerland – 188.36
- Denmark – 186.25
- Netherlands – 180.27
- Finland – 178.95
- Australia – 178.41
- Iceland – 177.64
- Austria – 176.36
- Germany – 175.24
- New Zealand – 173.60
- Luxembourg – 171.81
Crime Rate in North Cyprus
One of the indicators of a happy standard of living is the absence of crime, or its minimization. Will we be able to let our children go for a walk alone? “Baby, go and buy, please, bread and milk,” says the caring mother. Can your child return from school alone? All these and many other questions are impossible (at the cellular level), for example, in Russia. In no way now, I am not condemning. I’m just thinking and summing up. My friends could not afford to let the children play outside alone, but in North Cyprus it is possible. Here, crime is minimized. This does not mean that it does not exist. There are house thefts, car thefts, rapes and murders. But… There is a bold “BUT” – this indicator in the media is so small, it is 4-5 articles a year. Yes, I agree with the arrival of students in the TRNC, the crime rate is increasing. But the mentality of the local population is such that keys in the car and an open door of the house are the norm to this day! Believe me, there is happiness. North Cyprus is one such place on our planet!
Welfare of TRNC citizens
Living in North Cyprus for “45+” has always been prestigious. Europeans, the British and many of our compatriots are striving here. The difference between the private and public sectors is great. As in any other, working in government agencies is the privilege of a few. But, if we compare the post-Soviet countries, it is much easier to get into the position of an official than in our country. There is no need to pay bribes here. For example, to become a deputy of the UBP political party, you can come and pay 25,000 lira at the cash desk “in the white”. Please, and you can start building your future career. And working in the private sector is always a financial and career risk. The minimum salary of officials starts from the 6th class of pay (from 9.381 TL). You can read about the classes in the section below “pension in Northern Cyprus”. And if you get into the staff of government agencies, then it is (almost) impossible to dismiss. This is what makes up the well-being of citizens: prosperity and pension.
Welfare since 1974
After the war, when there was resettlement on the territory of the TRNC. The state made an assessment for Cypriots. Example: what property did you have in the south and in relation to this land was given in Northern Cyprus? And so many Turkish Cypriots still own land. If we talk today, it is easier for them to sell it or give it to the developer. Under the agreement “to take payment” in the form of a constructed area in square meters. You give the land for the construction of a residential complex, and the developer pays you in apartments, already square meters. It’s convenient for everyone! The developer, for example, does not need to immediately pay money for the land. You can then pay with apartments 🙂
Pension in Northern Cyprus
Your future pension is calculated according to the class. Those who are under 31 years old, whether they are foreigners or not, their pension goes from 1st to 6th grade. And people over 31 years old can calculate their pension from grade 6 to grade 25. Class is your pension, which you will receive in the future. Naturally, every year it is indexed relative to the minimum wage.
Example of pension classes:
- Class 1 is 4.970 (as of December 1, 2021) TL
- Grade 6 is 9.381 TL
- 25 Class – 34.790 TL
If you work full-time and pay all taxes today, then you can calculate your retirement class yourself. These classes can be raised, there is no limit. You are the owner of your own pension. And local pensioners can afford to relax and travel abroad. And as a rule, pensioners here live in their own, not rented property.
