President Ersin Tatar, in a meeting with the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci, emphasized the achievements of the TRNC in the fields of education, agriculture, industry, construction and digital technologies. He expressed his ambition to transform the island into an information technology hub through digital transformation and the completion of infrastructure projects. The President recalled the importance of TEKNOFEST as a festival of aviation, space and technology, and also noted that the TRNC is an integral part of the great Turkish people, with clearly defined borders, territory and potential. He paid special attention to the importance of the “Blue” and “Heavenly Motherland” in protecting national interests.
Alper Gezaravcı thanked the President of Tatar for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of cooperation between the fraternal states in the field of science and technology. He noted the importance of the “Bilim Lefkoşa” initiative aimed at the development of scientific activities, and expressed confidence that the visits of scientists and their participation in educational projects contribute to the development of the TRNC. The reception was also attended by the representative of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation for the TRNC Çağatay Özdem.
