Yesterday, at the presidential residence in Lefkosa, a cooperation protocol was signed with Turkish Airlines and its low-cost carrier AJet, aimed at reducing the cost and simplifying air traffic with the region. The ceremony was attended by TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Ustel and Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat, who signed the agreement on behalf of the airline.
According to the agreements, AJet will start operating regular flights between Ercan Airport and the largest cities in Turkey. The cost of tickets for these destinations will be limited to 6000 Turkish liras (about 150 US dollars), which should make flights more affordable and contribute to the growth of tourist traffic. As part of a separate campaign, a special price was also set for flights between London (Stansted Airport) and Ercan – 250 euros round trip. The TRNC President stressed that this agreement will strengthen the region’s position in the tourism sector.
