This year, the 14th Festival-Competition of Sand Sculptures of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) took place. The event took place on Sunday, October 13, from 10.00 to 18.00 on the territory of the Marine Structures of the EMU. The organizers of this traditional event were the Faculty of Architecture of EMU, the Department of Interior Architecture and the Design Club under the Department of Social and Cultural Activities of EMU.
The event was attended by university students, performing their creative work in the sections allocated for them. The competition was also attended by the Rector of EMU, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Dr. Resmie Alpar Atun, the Head of the Department of Interior Architecture, Associate Professor Dr. Afet Coşkun and other teachers, as well as students from various universities and secondary schools in Northern Cyprus. Participants gave speeches, expressed their feelings and thanked those who had contributed.
The jury members evaluated a total of 16 works and determined the five best groups. The first place was taken by the band Break Point, the second – KAU, the third – Whales, the fourth – Dale and the fifth – Gamma. The ceremony ended with the presentation of awards and a photo shoot.
