The typology of apartments in Northern Cyprus is represented by several formats, which can be conditionally defined as:

In general, the accepted standard of construction in Northern Cyprus is a kitchen combined with a living room and is a single area. It can be called the English format or European, American. The history of each of the countries “pulls the blanket over itself”. Very similar to a children’s riddle: “Who was the first to appear, the chicken or the egg?”

Bungalow
A bungalow is a one-storey house for a single residence or a young couple, because it is no longer suitable for a comfortable life. A family with children in a bungalow is already a communal apartment in the TRNC 🙂 Bungalows often have a flat roof and an extensive veranda. As a rule, on the 1st floor, the kitchen and the living room are combined. And going up the stairs, you get to the 2nd floor, where the bedroom is located. As a rule, there are no interior walls in the bungalow and you can see the hall from the second floor. There are also options for bungalows and one-story, without a “second light” and climbing upstairs…

Apartments in the TRNC are divided into 1+1, 2+1, and 3+1. What is “+1”?!?!? A rather incomprehensible phenomenon for those who are from the “mainland” – from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the CIS. So, let’s tell you… 🙂 Plus one means “hall” combined with the kitchen. 2 + 1 – the apartment has two bedrooms and a kitchen with a living room, or with a dining room (if in Russian). There are also 3+2, 4+2, but this applies to villas in most cases. Plus two – this is a hall + kitchen, and a separate “living-room” for receiving guests.
