The year 2025 was greeted in the world with grandiose light shows and fireworks. New Zealand and Australia were the first to enter the new year.
In Auckland, New Zealand, fireworks were traditionally launched from the Sky Tower radio tower, which rises 328 meters.
Australian Sydney welcomed the new year with the largest fireworks display in the history of the city with the effect of a golden waterfall from the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The next New Year was celebrated by the residents of Taiwan. The six-minute fireworks were launched from the Taipei 101 skyscraper with a height of 508 meters. This year, the light show was dedicated to the victory of the Taiwanese baseball team at the international championship.
Hong Kong welcomed 2025 with an impressive fireworks display over Victoria Harbour. The 12-minute pyrotechnic show was accompanied by music.
Thailand welcomed 2025 with an eco-friendly fireworks display of sticky rice that soared 1400 meters above the Chao Phraya River in the heart of Bangkok.
Dubai celebrated the New Year with a stunning fireworks display from the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa. Hundreds of people gathered to watch an 8-minute show called “Beyond Dreams.” It included fireworks, lasers and colorful performances.
In Athens, the New Year was celebrated quietly. The mayor of the city decided that there would be no large-scale fireworks so as not to frighten pets. As a result, a small light show with drones took place over the ancient Greek temple of the Parthenon.
Paris greeted 2025 with a grandiose fireworks display over the Arc de Triomphe. Thousands of spectators gathered to watch the show on the Champs-Elysees.
In London, fireworks soared over the Thames as the famous Big Ben struck midnight. The show was traditionally staged on the London Eye Ferris wheel.
And in New York, thousands of people celebrated 2025, watching the descent of a crystal ball. Many arrived in Times Square in the morning to take their seats. At midnight, when the balloon reached its lowest point, festive confetti flew at the audience. A similar ceremony has been held in the city since 1907.
