Medical experts agree that walking is the easiest way to improve physical and mental health, strengthen the body, and prevent various diseases.
While this isn’t the only type of exercise you should do, it’s the first step to living a healthy life. As recommended by American doctors, adults should engage in moderate intensity physical activity for at least 2.5 hours a week. It helps reduce the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, dementia, depression, and many types of cancer.
Walking also lowers blood sugar levels, it is good for bone health, it can normalize sleep, and it can also help you lose weight. Another advantage is that it puts less pressure on the joints, strengthening the heart and lungs.
Sarah Eby, sports doctor:
“The risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and various types of cancer is reduced. It can reduce anxiety and depression and improve sleep. It may also reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.”
Does a person really need to walk 10,000 steps a day? Experts emphasize that this is just a recommendation.
Doctors say that walking at least 3-4 thousand steps daily is already good for health.
