You can play giant Tetris these days in one of the entertainment centers in London. Such an interactive display appeared in honor of the 40th anniversary of the famous computer game.
Alexandra Payne, an employee of the Outernet center:
“We use an app that can be downloaded by scanning a QR code. The game will start on your phone, and you can move the shapes in real time directly on the screen. You can play alone, with friends and family, and even with strangers.”
Dozens of adults and children came to play Tetris. Up to seven people can participate in one session.
The author of the game is Russian programmer Alexei Pajitnov. He began developing it in 1984. A year later, Tetris was released for the Elektronika-60 computers. Then it began to be played all over the world. Now international Tetris competitions are regularly held every year.
In 2007, Tetris was listed as one of the ten most important computer games accepted for preservation by the Library of Congress. The game will turn forty years old in 2025.
