The Turkish Youth Federation of Cyprus supported the initiative of the “Bi-Community Youth Technical Committee”. The Secretary General of the Federation, Doruk Günalp, noted that they were pleased with the proposal of the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, voiced at a meeting on January 20 with the participation of the head of the UN mission in Cyprus, Colin Stewart.
Günalp stressed that the committee, which will be attended exclusively by young Cypriots, will be an important platform for discussing confidence-building measures. It will also empower young people by empowering them to actively participate in decisions that were previously formed without their input. He noted the success of the existing bicommunal technical committees, especially in the fields of cultural heritage and education, and expressed hope for similar progress in youth policies.
The federation considers this committee a tool for engaging young people in dialogue and decision-making, urging leaders to accelerate its creation. The organization expects the committee to include specialists and youth workers from both sides, and the dialogue between youth organizations will be the basis for sustainable cooperation. The Federation is ready to support the authorities in the implementation of this initiative.
