Jigsaw puzzle lovers compete against each other against the clock in Valladolid, Spain.
World Puzzle Championships have been held since 2019. But after the coronavirus pandemic, interest in tournaments has grown significantly.
Over the course of four days, 3500 puzzle lovers compete in individual, doubles and team competitions.
The winner in the individual competition was 30-year-old Kristin Tove from Norway. It took her a little more than 37 minutes to put together a complex puzzle.
Christine Tuve, individual winner:
“I’ve been solving puzzles all my life, but during the pandemic, I heard about speed puzzle solving and thought, ‘I’m going to go to the World Championships.’ After that, I started training.”
And while it may not be an extreme sport, Christine says she gets an “adrenaline kick” from it.
