It is the only center for the rescue and rehabilitation of birds of prey in Croatia. It was organized almost 30 years ago by volunteers in the Mediterranean forest, a 20-minute drive from the famous Dalmatian coast. The center offers guests the opportunity to learn about birds of prey and, if they are brave enough, hold and feed some of them. It is also a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Site. It is open to the public in the summer, but takes care of injured, sick or simply emaciated birds all year round. Pets are released into the wild only when they are completely healthy. Gradually, they assembled a team, which included veterinarians and ornithologists, created a non-governmental organization and opened a center in Dubravskaya Pushcha. From 120 to 180 birds come to the center annually. Some stay here forever because for various reasons they cannot survive in the wild. They most often communicate with visitors. When the center first opened, it received funds only from the entrance fee: 10 euros for adults and 3 euros for children. Later, however, the Croatian government realized the importance of his work and began funding many of his activities.
