The 20th Kurultai of the Youth of the Turkic World is held in the TRNC
The 20th Kurultai of the Youth of the Turkic World has started in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in which 87 youth organizations from 37 Turkic states and communities take part. The opening ceremony took place last night on the territory of the Presidential Complex.
At the event, Kürşat Zorlu, Vice-President General of the ruling AK Party from the Turkic World, as well as Erhan Arıklı, General President of the Democratic Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transport, who was presented with the “Order of the Turkic World” badge of honor, delivered welcoming speeches. In his speech, Arıklı emphasized that the TRNC is the pride of the Turkic world and should exist forever, quoting the famous words of the founder of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehmed Emin Rasulzade: “The flag, once raised, is no longer lowered.” He added that there is a struggle in the TRNC to ensure that this flag remains raised.
AK Vice President Kürşat Zorlu noted the importance of the TRNC for the Turkic world, pointing to the progress in increasing its visibility over the past five years and hinting at upcoming surprises. In his speech, TRNC President Ersin Tatar stated, “The heart and support of the Turkic world are with us. Coming from 37 countries, you have expressed your support for us. Know that the TRNC is the three strongholds of the Turkic world in the Eastern Mediterranean. Even if the world does not recognize us, we exist and will exist.” The Kurultai will continue today at Lefke-European University with various sessions.
