Traveling changes us, helps us grow and develop. It seems to me that traveling is the best education in the modern world!
Never be afraid to move away from people, borders, countries, and thoughts. Visit countries, cities and islands. The world is so beautiful that you just want to see it… Northern Cyprus has already become a second home for tourists. Everyone loves to travel. Someone goes on a trip, anticipating exciting adventures and communication with new people. For some, there is nothing better than new exotic dishes. Some have an irresistible craving for cultural values and music. Others simply prefer to silently admire the sunset by the sea. For example, why do I like to travel? The answer will be simple… 🙂 I can’t imagine my life without traveling – without exploring new places or discovering the unknown in places I’ve already been many times… Therefore, for me, Northern Cyprus is a home to which I always want to return!
Ercan Airport
Arriving in Northern Cyprus, you should immediately visit interesting and unusual places. By the way, for those who did not know, the main airport of Ercan is located on the island in such a way that the distance to all settlements is approximately the same.
In terms of time, it takes from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours anywhere in the TRNC. Which is very convenient! Try, for example, in Moscow by car from the Altufyevo / Bibirevo / Skhodnenskaya metro station to get to Domodedovo airport in 45 minutes 🙂 It’s simply impossible… We are not talking about Dolgoprudny, Pushkino or Zelenograd.
Those who have traveled know that it is at least 3-3.5 hours, or even all 4-6 hours – depending on the time of day and day of the week.
Sights of Northern Cyprus
First of all, we advise you to visit Kyrenia Castle. The
fortress itself was built in the 16th century. But the first fortifications were made in the 7th century by the Byzantines. And already all the main buildings were expanded under the Lusignans, who completed the Byzantine chapel here. In addition, there is a shipwreck museum on the territory of the castle, which contains about 6,000 wrecks of one of the oldest ships, wrecked around the 3rd century BC. The abbey is located near Kyrenia. In the 18th century, the Crusaders built a monastery on this site, in which a particle of the Life-Giving Cross and 600 Roman gold coins were kept. The castle of St. Hilarion has become a favorite of many. It is on the way from Nicosia to Kyrenia. A more complete list of attractions can be seen by clicking on this link.
Hotels of world chains
In Northern Cyprus, unfortunately, there are no world-class hotels. But there are hotels of Turkish chains, which are famous for their quality of service and excellent service. These are 5* five-star hotels:
- Merit International Hotels & Resorts (7 hotels, of which 6 are in the TRNC)
- Kaya Group (8 hotels, 1 of them in North Cyprus)
- Oscar Group (3 hotels)
Weather
Speaking of the weather in Northern Cyprus, it is worth noting that there are 300 sunny days a year. Which makes this place tourist-attractive. Summer here is quite hot up to +40-45 degrees. And winter, as such (to which we are accustomed) simply does not exist. In winter in Northern Cyprus, even during the day it can be hot up to +20-25 degrees. And as soon as the sun hides behind the mountains, the temperature drops to 10-15 degrees. By the way, many people like to swim in winter (of course, not the locals), but our people 🙂 🙂 🙂 Turkish Cypriots swim only in the summer. This is always and everywhere “knee-deep sea” for our people 🙂
